Camping in the Keys?

So we're renting an RV to sleep at night and drive to dive sites during the day in the Keys this weekend. Does anyone know a good camping place for us to park and sleep overnight?

There are several name brand places to camp in the Keys. A KOA is located in the upper keys and another one is located in the lower keys.

Bahia Honda state park at MM 37 is a fantastic place to camp.


There are other camp sites but almost all of them are simply trailer parks (and usually bad ones at that) that simply offers little for the RVér.

If you are military or retired, the Naval Station has a campground/RV park near Key West.

That I remember in the keys there are two; Bahia Honda, and Big Pine (although not sure if I got the second park's name right)

They both allow for RV camping and are very nice parks.

I looked up Bahia Honda. It looks really nice but 2 hours from where we're diving. Is there anything nearer MM 95 within 1 hour of Key Largo?

We'll find a campspot that will make you seeth with jealously. I'm sure our Florida buddies will come through with a great area!

camp fires, water views, roasted hot dogs, smores, waking up with the birds chirping and the smell of coffee brewing....

Parking lots, back alleys, getting chased away by Security/Police, bonfires in trash cans, the aroma of the dumpster you didn't see when you parked in the dark.....

John Pennekamp State Park, located near mile marker 102.5 oceanside is a great place to camp!
