That's my preference. I like a hinge buckle because of easier adjustment and easier don/doff instead of sliding on the band. Just think why ScubaPro keeps using it.

Tom Winters:
Get two of the $15 straps - they are like the grand old Scubapro straps and the best tank straps ever devised. The $60 for two straps are the cam-type. They're ok - I have some, but I still prefer the hinge-type.
The hinge-type make switching between 7" and 8" cylinders much easier also.

N.E.Diver:
I will be diving singles...do I need a single tank adapter? If I want to avoid a weght belt are there pockets I can add to my harness in order to add weight? I looked at Dive Rite weight pockets but they seem a bit pricey?
My rig has a Dive Rite STA on it, but I rigged my wife's setup without the STA. She will not be using doubles. The STA just makes swapping out rigs a little easier - plus my old backplate doesn't have the slots to begin with.
When you balance out your rig and you find that you need weight, try to figure out where you want it - on your hips or on the back of the tank. There are lots of options there with pockets and mounting weights on your plate harness.
Other options can include going to a heavier steel tank.

ordered the standard cam straps from Diverite express a few weeks back, man are they tight, your tank isn't going anywhere...they have the grip pad like the halcyon straps...

Tom-

wanted to thank you for the suggetion on the tank straps. Turns out Oxycheq sent me a light STA with regular cam straps (freebie I didnt know I was getting)...what a pain trying to loop those, and they were very long. Well I didnt know I was getting an STA so I ordered a weighted one from Hammerhead Scuba and also the dive rite hinge buckles that were suggested. Setup is a breeze and they are the best straps...I love em!! Thanks again.
