I just don't log dives
quick question.
I'm new to the BP/W system.
I just got a back plate and I plan to do only single tank dive at this point.
what do I need to buy to secure my tanks on it.
DO I only need 2 cam buckles with straps or do I also need the single tank adapter?

Thanx!

Some wings are designed to secure a single tank without the need of a single tank adapter, others require the use of the STA. An STA can always be used in either case. Some STAs allow for the addition of weight which can be a good thing when diving cold, Canada waters. In the case of an STA, the cam bands thread through the STA and the STA bolts through the wing, to the backplate. Without the STA, the cam bands thread through the wing and backplate.

Yes, you will need two cam bands, buy stainless steel ones and not plastic. Something like these:

Tank Straps, Adapters and Weights - Dive Gear Express

As for requiring a STA it depends on what wing, plate combo you're using some will require one, and sometimes it's personal preference. For example my wing has roll control tabs built in and the cam band slots on the plate line up with the slots on the wing so I do not have to use a STA but personal preference I do.
