I'm about to book a last-minute 4 days to GC leaving this Thursday-Monday. Just thought I'd throw another thread into the already repetitive mix. Any recent visitors or locals have any conditions reports? Possibly staying at Cobalt. Also, I'm wondering if it's possible to find steel 120s w/nitrox on the island (or at Cobalt?) for my big lungs. I'm a single diver with a non-diver spouse so anybody there who wants to buddy up let me know. I am AOW who mostly dives the NC wrecks with Olympus. Thanks in advance.

If it is, Divetech would have them. They have nitrox 100's - not sure if they're steel - Divetech - Prices

The 100s at Light House & Cobalt I saw were AL 100s. They may have steel, but I didn't see them (in October)

Ha. Yeah, good idea. I'm used to diving a steel 130 on the NC wrecks in Fall/Winter. Thanks for the info everyone, I appreciate it.

Last week water temp at coconut bay (just north of lighthouse point) was a consistent 81F. The only problem we had was the waves coming out of the NW (we only had 2 days that it was safe enought to get out of our cove there. Sun divers (cracked conch) was closed friday I believe and divetech opened at noon. As for steel 100 tanks or bigger I think lighthouse point has steel 100s and I think eden rock in george town also has 100s. not sure on EANx though.

Thanks for the info - since I have yet to book dive plans and accomodations - is it recommended to dive the south or north end of the island at this time of year or do winds shift enough to still make this a toss up? I'm looking at Sunset House or Cobalt Coast, and definitely want to max underwater time (who doesn't).

This weekend the conditions were perfect all over the island. There was a Lionfish tournament going on and I was out with Ocean Frontiers who are based in the East of the Island.

The islands nitrox mix is 32 which is literally banked on the side of the road. If you can find the tank you want it shouldn't be much of a stretch to get it filled with 32

Was just there Thursday. Water temp was 79 and visibility was about 100'. We did shore dives out of Eden Rock DS. I did not ask about larger tanks, but you could shoot them an e-mail and ask.
