This is a three day trip, offered through Ocean Explorers, dedicated to diving and photographing the sharks of California.
We will board the yellow boat (www.yellowboatcharters.com) at Dana Point on the morning of July 29th. That day will be spent chumming the offshore waters of California attracting Blue sharks and Makos. After a day at sea we will motor over to the beautiful town of Avalon on Catalina Island where we will spend the night in a hotel just steps away from the beach after dinner at one of the many remarkable restaurants Avalon has to offer. We will begin the second day by doing a dive on one of the spectacular reefs/kelp forests that Catalina has to offer where we will be looking for Horn sharks, angel sharks, Leopard sharks, Soupfin sharks, Swell sharks and/or sevengill sharks. After, we will head to one of the exceptional pelagic shark sites off Catalina Island where Blue sharks and Makos are known to arrive in minimal time. The second night we will spend in Avalon again. The third day will be spent chumming the waters for pelacis on our journey back to the mainland, with the possibility of a reef dive in the morning. After 3 days of California sharks we will return to Dan Point in the evening of July 31st.
Included in the trip will be the boat from Dana point to Avalon and back and the reef dives and pelagic shark dives, tanks with fills for all dives, chum, snacks and lunch on the boat every day, non-alcoholic beverages on the boat, two nights in the hotel in Avalon (based on double occupancy) and an Ocean Explorers trip shirt. Not included in the trip are dinners the two nights in Avalon, alcoholic beverages or breakfast in the mornings if you wish to eat before snacks are served on the boat. All divers must be Advanced certified. If you are not and wish to snorkel or free dive on this trip you are welcome to.
