We are planning a trip from July 7-11th to get our new gear wet.
We are more the San Jose del Cabo type then the Cabo San Lucas Party Life.
I see most diving in the area is done out to San Lucas Marina and up the Corridor.
Is there diving out of San Jose del Cabo?

Most recent research has us looking at Sunshine Divers in San Lucas as they have decent reviews and 66 bucks a dive for a 3 day local package. We would prefer smaller six packs and fast boats. Can someone recommend a place that is similar in price and review.

Also what do people think of los Milagros hotel in the Marina area? Is it over run touristy or more out of the way.

thanks

I'm with you. I much prefer San Jose del Cabo to the crass commercialism, partying, and hucksters of Cabo San Lucas. However, when I stayed in SJDC last month, I wanted to rent a weight belt (I am a snorkeler) and could not find a dive shop. I had to drive to CSL to find a shop. The same was true two years ago. There are a lot more hotels, tourists, and of course cruise ships in CSL, plus most of the dive sites are close to CSL, which probably explains why there don't seem to be any dive shops in SJDC.

I see your from CA so maybe you have thicker wetsuits than 3 mil? I froze last year in Cabo in a 3 mil at the end of July on pretty much every dive. Really made it miserable, probably should have rented something but I didn't. The temp on most of our dives was around 67-70 degrees. I personally would probably never return to Cabo San Lucas. We stayed right by the Marina and the timeshare/activity sales were enough to drive us crazy with salespeople literally yelling out our names across the street days after speaking with them. About the only good thing I can say about our stay was that we ate at some good restaurants in town but other than that I would only return to do a live aboard. It sounds like you would probably be happier in SJDC.

an anyone recomend a all inclusive resort in cabo san lucas, that has a onsite dive operator and a nice beach ???
how far is the solmar resort from the marina, can you walk there??

OK this is what we decided on:
RT SFO>SJD * 2=$889.00
RT Transfers to Hotel * 2=$80.00
4 Nights Los Milagros (2 double beds, kitchenette, 5 min walk to dive shop) 85 * 4= $340.00
3 Days diving with Sunshine Divers (Sand Falls, Land's End, Blow Hole Corridor) 200* 2 =$400.00
$1709.00 for 2 people to get wet.

Sounds like you guys are going to have a good time...

If you have any interest we run a Discover Closed Circuit Rebreathers session in Cabo San Lucas. Although it is our course I can say completely honestly that it is one of the best diving experiences around!!

Check out Nautilus Dive Tech | Facebook

Either way have a great trip!!!:D

Solmar is very close to to the Marina but they do not have an onsite dive shop.... There are not many hotels here that do have anything onsite but Solmar is close to all the dive shops that are here. I would recommend looking at either Sunshine divers or ourselves Nautilus Dive Tech | Facebook.. Hope you have a good trip!!

Hello from Cabo, The Milagros is in Downtown Cabo and I have never heard anything bad about them but if you want a more private style Hotel look at the Bungalows. The Bungalows Hotel, Cabo San Lucas they are about $95.00 but Include a really nice Breakfast every Day.They are about 6 or seven blocks out of Downtown but within walking Distance of town its quite and very nice.I dont have any affliation with this hotel but I know its nice.
The best Dives in this area are North wall,Middle Wall,Peligan Rock,Neptunes Finger, and Lands End where the Sea Lions Colony is located after you Dive these locations then look at the Corrador Diving.
We offer ScubaBoard Members a %20 Discount on any Service. Our Boat is 40 feet with a wide beam and has a full hardtop for lots of shade. We keep the groups to 5 divers.
We have been in Cabo 16 years and have a great reputation. PADI Resort #s22248
