Planning a trip for early October. Which is better to dive from, Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo? Or, are they effectively the same?

We will be there for 4 days of diving. I have MSD cert + AN/DP, my buddy is OW, with 100+ dives. I know it is slightly cheaper to get to Gordo Banks from SJdC, but do not want that alone to drive decision.

Is diving better from one location vs the other?

I have until tomorrow to book the trip, so any responses are much appreciated.

Cabo san Lucas is where you have land's end and the majority of the dive operations. It is also where the nightlife and shopping for tourists is centered. San Jose is a working town where many locals live. I stayed several times in Cabo and managed to get to gordo just fine. If you plan on many lands end and corridor dives, I'd stay in Cabo. If you want to do a couple of Gordo banks dives, then perhaps San Jose is better for you, or even stay close to the dive operation at Gordo.

I absolutely enjoyed Cabo diving. It's a shallow sandy slope but there are pellagics on every dive coming up from the deep drop-off. I could stay there a week covering the same sites and enjoy every one. The corridor dives are very nice as well. I can't answer for you though.

Thank you, that was exactly what I needed.
