My dive buddy and I have a few vacation days to burn before the end of the year (use or lose) and looking for a good, warm, fairly accessible but not too touristy, place to go diving.

I've read up on Cabo Pulmo National Park on this board and it sounds like a great fit. But what can we expect diving in December? Tempurature, viz, currents.

I've read that December can be very windy and cold - not ideal conditions.

Is anyone on this board there now - can you comment on the recent dive conditions?

Thanks!

hi there..
cabo pulmo is still good now, the water here in cabo is still nice, the winds are cool when you get out, we were in pulmo last week, the vis is very good, and as always the fish life is great and abundant. a shorty 3 mm should do for the next week, then onto a full length. .. its a great dive..

It sounds like you have already done your homework on this. Cabo Pulmo can be a very windy place in the winter - it is completely exposed to the north winds that often sweep down the Sea of Cortez at this time of year. Years ago, I camped in Cabo Pulmo two different years during Christmas and the wind never stopped. You can get calm days, but it's certainly not dependable. The Cabo corredor (San Jose del Cabo to Cabo San Lucas) is sheltered from the north winds, so it should be fine in Dec., although the water will be a little chilly compared to what you would experience in the Caribbean.
