What are the names/components of your camera rig? Do you have problems with the light drooping. Some don't look very supportive. I read where some had to tye theirs with strings.

What strobe, tray, etc. do you have for your 5050/PT-015?

P.S. Great Pics!!!!! Actually they are AWSOME!! I too am a Cozumelholic. (And formally from Redondo) I leave in 10 days for Coz.

I, too, am looking to build a system. I'm torn. I think a strobe is well worth it and will allow you to take much better pictures. On the other hand, taking a camera underwater for the first time can be challenging. I've been shooting an Ikelite A35 for years. It's a cheap, very forgiving setup but the strobe allows you to take very nice pictures within its limitations. I'm glad I practiced for years using this setup as I will be quite comfortable taking my new 5050 rig into the water. The plus (no strobe): easier to learn the basics of underwater photography and handling a camera underwater. The minus: you will surely take pictures for which you did not have enough light.

or give him a call. He is super helpful and will ship whatever you need in time for your trip. http://www.underwatercamerapros.com...&category_id=192cdfd1623c566a8686801f47c24278

His webpage certainly shows an impressive array of equipment. Unfortunatley, it also shows prices that are considerably higher. For example, I just purchased the Canon housing for the little S70 compact from 17th Street Photo for $159.95, and could have got it for $10 more from Leisurepro or Adorama. It's good to support our LDS, etcetera, but a 32% surcharge is more than some of us can afford to pay!

Is there another source for Inon strobes?

I would strongly recommend the 5050/Ikelite housing set-up. I also think that if you are trying to stay under a $1000 that you can get pretty close with an Ike housing/ds-50 strobe and TTL. I prefer the ds-125 strobes but if you are dealing with a budget issue, the ds-50 is a very capable strobe. I also know several people who take very good photos without an external strobe (macro works better than WAL though).

I also second talking to Ryan at Underwater Camera Pros. He is excellent and his advice is well worth a few extra bucks. Also, his shipping is free. So, make sure you are comparing the final costs and take into account if you need something right before a trip, Ryan will try to come through for you because he cares that you get a chance to shoot pictures.
