My class was pretty inexpensive...we paid $150 for the course and dives and $50.00 for the books.

We had 5 students in the class, with one instructor and a DM. We took the class over an eight week period, and got lots of individual attention. Actually two of the OW dives were staggered. We had dives 3 and 4 planned but two folks in the class couldn't dive that day due to colds....so the instructor took the three remaining out that day and the other two out a couple weeks later. We weren't required to have any equipment to start, we got all the equipment from the LDS as part of the course.

I think like anything else, price isn't the only consideration.....but I'm not independantly wealthy....so it is one of the considerations.

Like anything else I would spend money on....I want to look at the quality of the product I'll be receiving. If you're looking for OW class and don't know any other divers....it can be more difficult to measure the quality of your product....but at some point common sense steps in and says that I'll probably have more oportunity for learning with a smaller class size and more time spent in class (both in and out of the water).
