I use my c-5050 in my-mode with different setting for each situation. Suddenly during one of the dives, a exposure level symbol appeared at the bottom of my LCD. It was very nice and useful, changing the position of the camera vs the object was correlated to changes in the exposure. Since then I couldn't get this feature anymore. Honestly it appeared spontaneously. I've lost my c-5050 manual and so I wonder if any of you guys knows how to get this feature again.

Mine's not a 5050, but on the SP it shows up only in manual mode (M). Raising and lowering the shutter or aperture settings will alter the exposure #, as will changes in lighting as I adjust where my camera is aimed.

Are you talking about the histogram? A bar graph looking display at the bottom of the screen. If so, it can be turned on under in the menu, it's the last item under camera. It will not work if the camera is in manual (M) mode.

Are you talking about the "meter"? If so, you turn on the camera and, if your shooting mode is "Manual", you can press the AEL button (the top one on the back) and a "light meter" will appear as a bar at the bottom of the LCD. You can toggle this off and on with the press of the AEL button.

You can download the manual from the Olympus site if it helps....

I'm using the C-7070 and have it set up using the histogram. Touching the AEL button will toggle between the histogram and the light meter. I like the using the histogram better, just seems to make more sense to me.

Another little quirk i have discovered is that when I am underwater my gloves are a bit thick and I fat-fingered the mode ring on top by accident. I have my standard settings and use the My Mode function. On a few dives I accidentally have rotated the knob into Video mode. I wondered why the light wouldn't go off for a few minutes in the dive. i reset all the butons andit worked fine. Nice little surprise to see it recorded sound too. Could hear myself breathing and that requlator-speak between my husband and I. Surfacing into a snowstorm is cool to see in video mode.
