I am in the market to buy my own tanks now,,,and have noticed that companies seel tanks about 120-150 dollars cheaper in the US than in Canada.
Some companies ( not leisure-pro) tank manufacturers themselves sell a Worthington 80 Aluminum tank for $ 189.00 and less

Here in Vancouver they are $ 289 and up....
If I am down for 48 hours for another reason other then to buy the tank I am allowed $ 200 Canadian duty and tax free

This will save me a bundle $ 100 + or -

Are the tanks the same tanks and can they be used in Canada without a hassle when it comes time to get them filled at a local dive shop?

Thanks
G

Maybe. The cylinders must have the TC (Transport Canada) markings on them as well as the American DOT marks, otherwise they can't be filled or serviced in Canada. I don't know for sure, but I suspect the major manufacturers just stamp both on their North American production runs.

Chances are a DOT only tank won't be spotted until hydro time, when you find you have a door stop instead of a piece of diving gear. Don't ask me how I know this...

Worthington Tanks are made in Canada.... you won't have any problems using them up there. They'll be TC qualified.

Great
Thanks a lot, I'll make sure to ask and look at the tanks...I don't mind supporting my local Dive shop but 125 bucks a tank savings x 2 is a lot of money
