Do you think I should take the bungee off my wing. I’ve heard different perspectives for it to be on or off. Just looking to hear for more. Attached is a picture. (Also just a side question. Should I put my STA through the bottom or top holes on my wing.) Thanks

I think you should sell this wing and get a singles wing. When the time comes (if wanted) to switch to doubles, buy a doubles wing. I’m not a huge fan of bungees on wings, but this will be more of mess on a single tank without them. The rec is sold as a hybrid, but isn’t particularly great with singles nor large (8”) doubles, esp compared to something like a Voyager + Classic XT combo or an Eclipse + Evolve combo.

You are using a doubles wing on a singles rig. In the infamous words of George Irvine III that is a stroke rig. Even if using that bungie wing of death on a doubles rig it would still be considered a stroke rig.

Personally, I would say sell the whole thing and start over as there was much better singles backplate rigs out there.

I would leave the bungees on the wing. If you take the bungees off, the wing will flap around underwater, and you may end up with more air in one side of the wing seriously affecting your trim.

With the STA, use your common sense and look at the overall appearance of the wing when fitted. If it does not look right change the hole until it looks right.

If it works for you underwater, it works. Some tech divers and cave divers bang on about the bungees being an entanglement problem. If you are just general recreational diving on a single tank, the bungees are not an issue.

I have several wings, and one has bungees. Not an issue with me.

What singles wing would you recommend?
