I have switched my compass over to a self made bungee mount and I have a new wrist slate that is made for bungee as well.

My question is which is the better way to route the bungee.

I have not yet tied the bungee for the wrist slate, but I crossed the bungee for my compass.

I wondered what anyone else did and why?

I use much thinner bungie. The thick stuff needs to be sized more closely since it won't stretch much. I don't cross them, its unnecessary and makes it a little harder to put on over dry glove rings "one half" at a time.

I don't use the cross. It can put a very weird pressure point if you're sporting a thin wetsuit.
I also use 1/8" bungee, less tension, easier to don/doff; you don't need that much really.

Realistically there's no huge difference, advantage, or disadvantage to crossing your strings or keeping them parallel. It's a personal preference thing.
