In the case of Buford, it destroys one of the nicest natural things I have ever seen.

I tend to disagree with the others on here. I think we should be talking about these sites. I think posting it here though is like preaching to the choir. I think there should be an effort made by all the tech trained divers to those that are only open water trained about how dangerous these sites are and how much damage they can and will do.
I realize we do not live in a perfect world and some of the info will go in one ear and out the other but at least we will be making an effort to change things rather than just sitting back and bitching about it.
Isn't the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result? Thats what has been going on on these forums for a while so maybe we should try something different.
I have no doubt I will get flamed for my comments but thats ok. Someone has to be the one to say that we are not holding up to our end of the bargain. We want all these sites protected but we expect someone else to come in and do it for us. We are the ones that went the extra mile to get technical training and whether we hold an instructor cert or not as a diver we hold a reponsibility to our sport we love and the sites where we do it. So rather than preach here open a thread in the openwater forums and state the issue. I have no doubt there will be others jump on to back you. I will. You can't educate the masses if you're not talking to them and I for one never came on this section of the forum until I started technical training.
Just my $.02

Now, that is an interesting question. Why do you need to know? Of what purpose is such a question?

The only reasons I can deduce is that you wish to shed grief upon them.

And I ask the question why hash that up 2 months later unless you wish to start some sort of debate.

Are you trying to say that its a bad thing to try and let someone know they are being unsafe?

Lets change the story. An instructor takes them here knowing they are not trained for it but he tells them its okay. Would it be a bad thing for someone to try and give the student advice in the direction toward safety?

In this case the student woudnt know they were doing something usafe because an instructor took them there.

Buford is supposedly already showing signs of traffic. There's no way I'd want to bring enough information to the public eye for any diver to find their way to the lesser known sites. Alot of times, a name is all it takes.

I wish they'd take out the access trail and make it a swamp all the way back to Buford. Then only a few, the proud, the trained would make it to the water. Short of that drastic change any diver with 1/2 brain can make it into Buford.

Or people could just s-t-f-u online about it, that'd be much better.

As JG pm'd for a response, I will do him the courtesy of answering in forum.

You did a good job in the the initial statements . . . He answered 'I am trained'. At that point, there was no need for further discussion. After that point, it became "harping". Ergo, my question followed. 'Nuff said?

You just showed that you never read the discussion and you have no clue as to what you are talking about.

In response to Adams post fine he said he was trained Nuff said.

But the quote you posted was in referance to Gitrdundiver. Who was not trained.

And I wasnt harping thats what happened. His instructor took him there knowing he wasnt trained to go there. He even had him doing staged decompression.

It was pretty clear to me gitrdundiver was who you were talking about. I seem to recall him recently posting he's only cavern, and on CDF I've seen him comment on eagles nest. Worries me too.
