Budget diving before business trip in January

I will attending a conference in January at teh Hilton resort on Waikiki and am looking for some suggestions on budget hotels/divng, etc. for a couple of days before hand.

Any suggestions? (I will not have a car, so boat dives seem to be the way to go, but I was hoping to get ideas on hwere on the island to stay, since lodging budget will probably be primary limitation)

I was in the same situation as you...the Ambassador Hotel in Waikiki is your friend:

I used Jack Aaron's for the dives and they picked me up every morning in the hotel parking lot.
