i stepped from the dock onto old tom and got lost in her mystic eyes.
my dive buddy was a goddess or else a mermaid in disguise.

hi, i'm karina. it's nice to meet you. she rescued me with a smile.
said she likes books, sex on the beach and diving at dawn any style.

my buddies call me scuba steve. out of breath, it was all i could say.
we checked our gear in the sunshine as the old tom pulled away.

the captain steered for paradise. it's not on a map. there's no sign.
he moored above the sandbar blue at a site they call sarah's divine.

we back rolled into an ocean that was warm as caribbean gold.
we dropped into a nether world reserved for the wet and the bold.

the reef is a castle of fire and lace where fantasies live and play
serious games of hide and seek. we were visitors for the day.

the creature hovered vividly and exclaimed with the blink of an eye.
we didn't know how to speak turtle and could only wonder why.

there were parrots, silver butterflies and queen angels on a cruise.
they were sporting festive garments of glistening, tropical hues.

spotted eagle rays in a parade of three waved hello then goodbye.
the green moray eel glared fiercely and roared but really was only shy.

the magic of floating weightlessly still needs to breathe sweet air.
i confessed to karina mine was low. her thumb said let's go up there.

rotating bubbles could not delay and so led our stately ascent
to the surface and joyful laughter with yet another dive's intent.

buddies are friends underwater, in a castle and on the shore.
we checked our gear in the sunshine and are buddies forevermore.
