That's what I mean. If you try to match the one brand end to the other brand end and even if you have to order it from the internet source, it is hard to ensure if it works until you actually try it. So, eventually, you should change the both ends.
Hey hoosier--

I just realized what you were saying... sorry. You meant that when/if Utnapistim does buy a new buckle with both parts, he'd most-likely have to replace both sides... right? Well, I'm not sure. There's a good chance the new buckle would be identical to the old one; I don't think there are that many manufacturers in the world.

If not, then assuming he has the awl, then replacing both sides would be easy enough... not eventually, but right away...

Marek K,

No, it is my bad. I should have made clear of what I meant. I don't know if it was only my case. I tried to match 1 inch buckle and ordered it from the internet source. But, it didn't match at all so that I have to replace the whole buckle. It looked the same, but the description and picture don't guarantee that it is an identical end;)

I just hope that someone will take the same path what I had.....:06:

Have you given any thought to switching to a metal buckle? You would end up with all of the "extra" webbing on one side and would need to remove both of the plastic d-rings.

in the end i just left it "as is": one side is still tied with white (ugly) rope, and i adjust it using the unbroken side.

since i'm the only one using it, there's no problem with this.

happy diving :)
