Not good. The dive boat I was with could not find the wreck or hook up on it. Not a good trip, said the GPS was malfucntioning. Definatly disappointing, took us to the Ches Light Tower instead. Will be nice and not name the shop or dive boat.

I thought they had mooring bouys on alot af the wrecks that lds dives. I guess they didnt have one on that wreck. that really stinks, was there anything at the tower.

Some do, some don't. Fishermen have a tendancy to cut them off.

Have you ever dove the tower before? It's not much of a dive. About 40 ft with a flat sandy bottom. If you look you can find octopi and that's about it. The shops take lots of students there because of the depth. Last time I dove it I was one of 4 certified divers (out of 20) on the boat.

They were starting to use submerged buoys to try to reduce that.

In any case, there isn't much to tie a mooring to at the Brass Spike. There was some talk of putting a reefball out there just to tie to, but I doubt anything came of it. A couple of pyramid anchors with a sentinel would probably be a better choice.

The tower itself isn't much, but the tower reef is generally loaded with black bass with at least some tautog. Dive trips advertised as to "the tower" are often actually to the tower reef.

I have not dove the tower itself. I have dove on a tug boat that is part of the tower reef. there was not much there only a couple very small sea bass. we brought the gun down but there was nothing big enough to bring up. and yes their bouys are underwater.
