From what I’ve seen, brass bolt snaps can be had for leas than $2, not $5-$15, so a source for inexpensive stainless steel boltsnaps would be great.

It’s hard to know whether, for some gear, it’s really necessary to pay for high end stuff. Sometimes we are paying the “scuba surcharge” - an inflated price charged because retailers know we are paying hundreds or thousands for some gear, so we won’t care about the price of other gear. Sometimes it’s not about the money, it’s about the feeling of being taken advantage of.

So if you have a source of 316 SS bolt snaps with 316 SS springs, let us know!

DGX continue to be the cheapest around typically.

I had a brass bolt snap on the end of my Cobra dive computer for about 24 years. I just rinse it with fresh water at the end of the dive day and it has never failed me.

it was the blood donating that had me ditching brass snaps (and I'm a fresh water diver for most of my diving)... now I just bleed from my wallet rather than my thumb. Compared to the rest of scuba stuff, it is a cheap cost however...

Randy (Piranha) or DR are my go to sources.

Yeah it's all fantastic until you have to buy ten of something, not houses
but when I go to the the bolt snap place,10 equals 4 from the dive shop

Thanks for understanding. Boltsnaps at my local are like $12-15 a piece.

I think it depends on the quality of the brass. I've got quite a few brass ones that are over 30 years old and still work without any issues. They've seen a lot of salt over the years, a quick rinse or dunk in the tank and they remain corrosion free.

As mentioned earlier, springs are the most important consideration followed by rinsing.

High quality brass boltsnaps will last a very long time, I think I have a few that are pushing 30 years or more. But I've shifted to SS only because its harder to find that kind of quality today.
