I've never dove Brant Rock befoe - can someone give me some info on the site? Also, does anyone know the minimum bug size for this area - is it 3 1/4" like on Cape Ann or is larger?

Thanks for any info!

I only dive off my boat outside of Brant so I can't really help you with info. Good luck.

Helpful Hints(from my limited experience):

1. Dive at high tide with calm seas only(NE wind = bad).
2. Dive along and out from the jetty farthest North.
3. Suit up at your vehicle, walk down the stairs and hit the water.
4. Catch a few bugs!

My brother and I will be there for the high tide on Friday afternoon hoping to haul a few lobstahs. Good luck.

It's 3/4"-5" max.

Also, there are some HUGE eggers off Brant rock, aside from not illegally taking them - please (everyone) be careful not to cull them (rip off a claw). If you see a big bug chances are about 99% that it's an egger or a v-notch (zero tolerance for possession of this year). Be gentle, I hate to some big female with eggs have it's claws ripped. That said, this a fun, very shallow place to dive with a good number of bugs and flounder.

Where are you allowed to catch lobster that are only 3/4" inch long? :)

Better make that Friday evening dude, high tide's at 5:40.

If you wouldn't mind a third diver, let me know what time you'll be there - I'm local.

We're planning on getting there around 4:00ish and doing two dives around the high tide. I'm a night owl, 5:45pm is afternoon for me. I'm just a little concerned w/ the forecast...some t-storms!? Hopefully, they will be as wrong as usual.

If I can make it at 4, I'll look for ya.

Despite a few minor technical problems on 1st dive, we had two good dives. A little swell/surge at entry/exit. Brought our gear down onto the beach closer to the last jetty and suited up there. Dove along and straight out from that jetty. Viz was better than average at about 15+ to 20 feet maybe. Temps were no problem as we never got below 20 fsw. However, we didn't even get one keeper. Lots of real small lobster and several that were just one molt away. Crabs, crabs, crabs. One red-brown fish that looked like a rock with seaweed on it - sea raven? Long swim out there to the deeper water twice was a bit tiring. Brother found a nine pound lead weight and a fishing lure, so we didn't come home empty-handed.

Other dive tandem dove out from the middle jetty, didn't know if they were luckier than us.
