Last September, In anticipation of a S. Pacific dive trip, I purchased a Nauticam underwater rig (see photos below) for my newly acquired Nikon Z8. Unfortunately, at the start of this year I became quite ill and was diagnosed with a severe illness that requires that I end my diving career. I am eager to find a good home for my new Nauticam rig which I am now offering for sale. Please note this gear has NEVER been in salt water and only in our freshwater pool for ~20min.

My rig includes:
  • Nauticam NA-Z8 Underwater Housing for Nikon Z8 (including M16 Vacuum Valve II)
  • Nauticam Full-Frame Straight Viewfinder 400 0.8-1
  • Nauticam WWL-C Wet Wide Lens for Compact Cameras
  • Nauticam 120 Macro Port 6
  • Nauticam M67 Bayonet Mount Converter II
The rig requires the Nikon 24-50mm Z lens to function properly.

I am asking $7,000USD and will cover shipping in the continental US.

I just learned that the Nauticam has increased the cost of its NA-Z8 housing. Current retail cost for the five items above is now $8630.

PRICE LOWERED TO $6000
Would you consider selling the Housing/Vac Valve and Bayonet Mount separately and if so what would the price be? I'm interested depending on price. This would be shipping to a US address.

Kind regards,

Ben

Ben:

Just to clarify, the housing requires the newly designed viewfinder to optimally work with the Z8. In addition, the bayonet mount supports the WWL-C; I am not sure about other wet lenses. Are you OK with regard to these items?

Thanks

Aaron

Hi Aaron, let me do a bit of research quickly on the VF and bayonet mount and get back to you shortly.

Actually, the old viewfinders work, just set the camera EVF to the "smaller" setting. I'm using it with the Z8.

Hi Aaron,

Ok, have done some research.

1. I don't think I'll need the bayonet mount.
2. Could you give me a price for the housing without the VF and with the VF? I typically shoot using a 45 degree VF as mostly shoot macro so the straight viewfinder isn't really a must have, but if pricing is right I'm willing to consider.
3. Do you know if the installed flash trigger is the manual trigger or the ttl trigger?

If you do ever shoot macro or wide angle with you current viewfinder, you will not be able to see edge - edge without a new EVF. This feature is critical for composition as well as image review through the viewfinder, which is the optimal way to take avail of Z8.

Here's from the Nauticam website: "ENHANCED VIEWFINDERS
Electronic viewfinders are constantly achieving higher resolution and better dynamic range and the Z8 features a 3690k-dot OLED 0.5" viewfinder. Pair the Z8's EVF with Nauticam's Full Frame Enhanced Viewfinders for unrestricted viewing of the entire EVF in either a straight or angled configuration. The added working distance from the back of the housing makes for a more comfortable and natural position underwater. Edge to edge visibility and a dioptric adjustment make for easier composition and tack-sharp focus."

I purchased the unit with Manual flash trigger. I believe you can buy an upgrade to accomodate TTL.

Lastly, your listing says you are in Shanghai. How would I get the gear to you at US address?

As to pricing, I really don't won't to separate the viewfinder from the housing. With the VF (but no bracket or WWL included) I will charge $5200. If I remove the viewfinder I will charge $3900.

Let me know what you think!

Thanks

Aaron

Hi Aaron,

Thank you for the info!

1. I'm happy to purchase the housing at $3900 if you are willing to sell it separately from the VF. I'm pretty much always shooting with a 45 degree viewfinder as am generally muck diving to do the macro so the straight VF would end up being resold anyway.

2. I'd ask for the housing to be shipped to my family home in New Hampshire.

If that would work just let me know how you'd like to proceed. I know when buying gear here or from Wetpixel in the past that sellers have used Paypal.

Also, happy to move this conversation to direct messaging but I think you'd have to DM me as it's been so long since I've posted here that I think I don't have messaging privileges.

Thank you,

Ben
