Reef is probably only about 1-200 yards in length. I'd say it's definitely a worthwhile dive when the conditions are right. I've enjoyed every dive there, except when the vis is really bad. Depth is around 20ft max, rocks are piled maybe 4-5 ft high.

Oh and Ned Deloach's Guide to Underwater Florida can be found at most dive shops.

Have you been to the "Third Pier?" (also in DeLoach's book)?
 
No actually I was wondering about that when I saw it in there the other day. Sounds like a fun dive as well.
