Hi,

I am looking to get an xdeep Zeos and am thinking about the setup, bp type etc and what bits such as trim pockets ill need.

In Egypt with a shortie I use 4kg weight with a standard BCD, I'm slightly concerned that ill be overweighted if I use a SS bp, although the guy from the shop I spoke to said that the weight of the basic system is 5kg, 3kg neg in water so ill still have 1kg dumpable.

Over here I am using 10kg in cold fresh water with drysuit although I suspect I'll reduce that over time.

I also wondering what I should think about in terms of trim pockets and clipping things on to the BPW such as octo, guages and (small) torch.

Thanks
James

The weighting really depends on what type of tank you will primarily be diving with. Steel tanks usually tend to stay negative at the end of a dive with the exception of fabers. Some people use the aluminum and steel backplate at different times of the year, and/or because they dive a variety of tanks. With a steel backplate and steel tank, you may find yourself wearing no weight, whereas with an aluminum tank or aluminum backplate you will have to wear some weight. One thing is for sure whatever combination you go with you will definitely be dropping weight switching from a jacket bc to a BP/w setup.

I would speak to James but I won't be buying from there as I'm using a more local shop in Manchester, I feel bad using him for free advice, that's what the forums are here for! ;)

Up to you. Aquanauts sell the Xeos and they do free postage.

Thanks, the reason I am going with the shop in Manchester is that from Liverpool I can go across and see them in person if necessary, also they have been very helpful and even sent a BPW over to my dive centre for me to try. They will help my get myself setup but just looking for advice here too.

The GUI stuff is good however I want to stick to short hose for now to keep consistent with my wife and other potential buddies, also I have no need for a canister light ect

Thanks
James

For additional pockets and rear cam pockets, I got mine from custom divers in the uk on-line, and am very happy. Have a deep one for reel and dsmb and a small zipped one for reef hook, small torch etc

In my config I have 2 x drinks on each shoulder, on waist belt I have one either side near backplate and one either side in front of pockets (to keep them in place) I clip my gauge on one of these. My crotch strap also has one front and one rear ring. I keep a spare smb at the rear and normally carry a lift bag rolled up strapped tightly somewhere else

My shoulder strap has some bungee around it to thread the inflator hose through to keep it in place but allowing it to be lifted to dump.

Hope that helps, of course as you dive with your wing you'll figure out what you need and don't need depending on your diving
