I tried putting a dime on the dump valve string. I punched a hole in the centre of a dime, un tired the knot of the string, threaded the dime and re-tied. That lasted all of about 4 dives. I found it more difficult to find it with the dime on than the just with the string. I think it was because the dime makes it negative and this causes the string to sit flat rather than to flap in the water somewhere in the middle of the valve. The dime is off and with a bunch more dives under my belt, it is gets easier and easier. An extra knot or two did help.
