Three factors determine my carry on. First is weight. My checked is always maxed out. I would have to pay and schlep another checked bag if I didn't carry on some of the heavier items. Second, I hate rental gear and haven't used it since OW. Third, hard to replace if lost, like my small freedom contour plate.

There are only two regulators/SCUBA gear, okay maybe three, that I would carry on.

1. My Argonaut Kraken
2. My PRAM
3. My Scubapro R109 set

Anything else, I can buy another of. Those are irreplaceable.

Reading all your posts led me to re think my carry-on and after looking at some of the carry on's in a few dive shops leaves me to believe that my little back pack is quite a bit smaller then what they offer for their carry on's. Now all I need is to pick out a good bag for a check bag as I really don't want to broadcast that I am packing scuba gear with it.I'll definitely separate the wing from the plate now.
