I use webbing from Reef Scuba (www.reefscuba.com). When I bought my plate, it came with webbing of unknown origin which I used without problems for a while. The Reef Scuba webbing seems to be just the right stiffness and I like it a lot. You can get it by the foot at a very reasonable price.

I used the webbing that came with my DSS BP/W and have no problems with it. I think it is just regular weight belt webbing except for the crotch strap. For that you want softer webbing.

Another vote for the Reef. Stiffness. I like the webbing stiff...makes things a lot easier. For instance... when donning the rig it is easier to find your straps... and you don't get issues like D-rings slidding around. It's a good price. Comes in the right size. Comes in different colors.

Of course, they probably get it from Trident... like most LDS's do. Plain old weight belt stuff.

Just picked up some standard 2" weight belt at my LDS.

Reef Scuba and Tobin from DSS

Got the Mil Spec from Dive Rot express. Rocks.

2" Heavy duty webbing from Reef Scuba.
I've had the same webbing on my Hammerhead plate for five years with no signs of wear at all. I chuckle everytime I read all the BS about having to replace webbing due to backplate wear. Marketing induced paranoia!

How often are people replacing the webbing? Is replacement based on cosmetic or structural issues?

I've used my Halcyon harness for 450-500 dives and it looks like it could easily go another 500. Granted, there is some minor wear where the webbing enters/exits the plate, but it is minimal and certainly not a failure point.

I think that is depending on how much weight you put on and finish of the plate.

Of course, cosmetic can be another reason, such as changing color.
