I dont know generic term for the octo+, the air 2 etc etc.

But does anybody use a BP/W with this?

or is this Hogarthian blasphemy?

Im thinking of getting a travel friendly setup sometime late this year and this plus a computer with transmitter would really be minimalist.

from what i have read.. it is not a good idea because trying to use the inflator and breath off it at the same time just doesnt seem to work out....

Yep I do, have a Zeagle Octo+ on my recreational/teaching OC BP&W. "Hog Blasphemy" funny. They Work fine I have done so many simulated OOA's with my students using them. I always teach both Alt/Inf and Occy to them, as they are just becoming so popular now.

Hey unless you are DIR you can do it anyway you want, just watch out for that long hose

I am thinking of going a very similar route, I have an air2 which I have used for 10 years now. Great piece of kit, works like a dream. I am thinking of going nitrox so will need a new computer and wireless is a very attractive option.
I am not convinced of the wing yet for air travel. I have a soft back BC which packs very small and light. I always use a hard case for flying and 1 complete divers kit fits in half of the suitcase, computer travels as hand luggage.

Hi Victor
A Little off topic, but a Aluminium plate and a small 34lbs wing will weigh less than your current BCD. Packs completly flat in the bottom of your case.

Here is what I wear when I have to under protest use OC gear

Much prefer my CCR.

Yes, for open, warm-water, single tank, recreational diving. I use a Golem 35# wing, Dive Rite Transplate (aluminum), a Scuba Pro Air2, and a Vytec hoseless computer. When solo diving I add a 13 cu. ft. pony with a Quick Draw bracket. For single tank, recreational diving this makes for a very sleek set-up.

Comments regarding the difficulty breathing and inflating/dumping off an Air 2 almost invariably start with "from what I have heard" - and I suspect they almost always heard it from someone who heard it or read it from someone else. It is in fact not hard to do and is far easier to master than basic skills like clearing a mask.

The bigger issue with an Air 2 is that it requires a longer inflator hose than is currently popular with many BP wing divers. The hose lenght involves a trade off - a hose long enough to be able to breath off of with an Air 2 and retain a reasonable degree of head movement results in a longer hose that is more prone to dangling.

But with a single tank configuration that trade off is often still better than dragging along an extra hose and octo.

This looks very like what I am looking for.
Do the weight pockets take standard (if there is such a thing) weights?
I have a fair amount of excess padding so I use a 1 mm skin for warm water diving. This brings my lead requirement down to 6lbs or so. 9lb for the first few days.
I will need to see if I can source the equivalent here in the UK, or maybe in Malaysia as that is likely to be my next dive destination.
Thanks for the help.

HI Victor
The Weight pouches will hold (standard) 3lbs bricks up to 9 pounds in each pocket so a total 18 pounds without any trouble at all.
There are planty of companies making BP&W Setups, but the Zeagle weight pockets are the best I have seen.
Zeagle
Diverite
Halcyon
OxyCheq
Apecks
just to name a few.

Cheers
