If you start adding storage and weight pockets to the BP/W harness not only does it become a BC but a bad designed BC with a homemade feel to it.

There are some systems like Halcyon which are designed for weight pockets and limited storage. I had previously dived with a Zeagle Brigade and have recently purchased a BP/W and I can say that there is certainly a difference. The Zeagle is nice, but the BP makes you feel like you and the rig are one unit. I also was able to drop 12 lbs from my waist with a BP. (and weighted STA)

Anyone want to buy a Zeagle BC?

The real question how much further do you want to venture into the sport of diving. If you just want to do 99% recreation single tank dive, ranger is a very feature rich BC. My ow instructor uses one, he love it. You will probably not notice any differences.

However, if you want to venture into more advance diving, such as double, tech related, or get into UTD/GUE/DIR type of diving, then you might just get BP/W now and avoid the repurchase later.

I have dived both a Ranger and a BP/W. The Ranger is great BCD very comfortable, easy to use, no tank stability issues, very functional sans the silly roll down pocket which I removed on mine. I think Zeagle makes a very good product and stands behind it. My only complaint with the Ranger is the bulk. Packing a Ranger for travel is a bit of a pain. That is my only complaint.

With my BP/W it is very compact. I have a nice small wing for singles and I have weight pouches on the cams bands (i.e. I can not ditch weight). On the front is a pocket for a spreel and SMB along with a knife. About the only hassle is the pocket and it is not quite as comfortable as a Ranger.

Now to give an idea my wife has a Concept and loves it. But she said that she might be ready to switch to a BP/W for singles because of the bulk of her Concept and packing for travel. She already uses a BP/W for doubles so using it will not be that much a of big deal.
