I don't know about the sleeves, but I rigged my BP with keepers second time around--eliminated slips. The waist strap had slipped previously.TN Traveler:KEEPER or NO KEEPER???? - Sleeve or No Sleeve??
sea nmf:I just received my DSS bp/w (1st ocean test tomorrow - yippee!). I don't think I have keepers to reduce wear & tear. But this webbing seems pretty darn strong. Even without keepers, won't this last a pretty long time? And, this webbing is inexpense to replace, right?
Glad that worked for you, Just be careful about slippage. When I got mine it seemed hard to thread. I found that if I took a large flat screwdriver and just slightly worked the "tongues" It was easier to thread but still does not allow slipping. I also cut the webbing ends to form V's and this made them easier to start. Once started they went right in.BigTuna:I don't know about the sleeves, but I rigged my BP with keepers second time around--eliminated slips. The waist strap had stripped previously.
Incidentally, I have a DSS BP. The plastic bushings in the slots made it hard to push the webbing thru the slots, so I carefully sliced a "tongue" from one side of the threading slot in the bushing. All seems well.
ditto that.Sideband:I used the sleeves when I first got my DR plate but every 5 or so dives I had to pull webbing back into the arms from the belt. After I switched to the keepers I have not had to make any changes and have not seen any additional wear on the webbing.
