Hopefully I posted this in the right location.

1. I have a bacjac :D that I am keeping for now until I up for an OMS type for doubles. The pockets are roll up which is nice- smaller for travel packing but they are hmmm not big nor very durable. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to say add pockets? or make the mesh pockets more durable. I use my drings for lights etc but I want to carry scissors/shears as a knife back up.

2. I want to place my sword -oops mean my dive knife not on my leg but on my BC. Any advice?
Was thinking of using electric ties to place it on my bc as I have with my knife on my hiking backpack?

Any thoughts?

Small shears or knife can be rubber banded (using sections of beach bike inner tube) to your right shoulder strap. I carry small knife on right waist belt and shears on right shoulder strap in such a position that I can reach either one with either hand. See Dive Rite or Golem Gear for small cutting devices.

What's wrong with keeping it on your leg?

It is a bit more work, but you might also consider glueing thigh pockets to your wetsuit. I recently did this for two wetsuits (mine and my wife's). Thigh pockets are generally much more "useable" than BC pockets, and when you transition to the OMS backplate they are the best "storage solution" I think.

If you decide to go the glue-on pocket route, check the DIY section, or shoot me a PM and I can describe the process (it is extremely simple, and I kicked myself for waiting so long to try it).

Best wishes.

The guys at my LDS and other local divers recomnd this knife to bc for easy quick access to cut thru line/obstructions while diving off NY.

Keep your knife on your leg and add a small line cutter (shears) zip tied to your BC.

Nothing against the other other solutions, here's mine for the present:
Look at the XS-Scuba pockets shown at Pockets & Pouches at DiveSports.com
I hang a Cargo Pocket from the bottom edge of my BC on the right side, a Zephyr on the left. Doesn't matter what wetsuit I'm using, the pockets are always there.

Note the front and back pictures on the DiveSports site. I use 1" ss split rings (2 each) through the loops and through the convenient loops on the bottom edge of my BC (Oceanic Islander). Results in a snugger attachment than the supplied plastic bolt snaps, which I cut off, but it's a pretty flexible system. The pockets can be removed pretty easily from the split rings, like taking a key off a key ring. They don't weigh much empty. and they fold up inside the BC pretty well for packing.

The split ring at the rear of the Zephyr is also the attach point for my safety sausage, which is also bungied to the back edge of the pocket so it doesn't float around.

Get rid of the BIG knife and attach a small knife or line cutter and EMT/Trauma Shears to your BC. Play with the placement. Just be sure to place both within easy reach.

Installing a thigh pocket with a built-in sheath on a wet suit or dry suit is another good idea. Make sure the inner part of the sheath/pocket is lined with a heavy material. It's just downright uncomfortable when you dry suit leaks.

I just recently started carrying a small backup strapped to my left upper arm (like freedive spearos). It keeps my bc cleared of clutter, yet is very easily accessible when snagged up in kelp/netting/line.
