As for how to loop the crotch strap webbing though the retainer 4 times, I used the method shown at this link. I used a non-serrated retainer with the stiff webbing that FredT supplies.

the question was on the correct fit of a harness and how to fit the crotch strap thru the retainer 4 times.
thanks for the link, i knew how to do it, but just couldnt physically thread the bugger. i suppose the retainers i have are too small.
