hi, im coming to krabi next year and am a bit concerned about recent events ie young girl in ko lanta getting stung and dying, can any one shed some light on this 4 me please.

That was about a year ago, almost to the day, a young Swedish girl died on Koh Lanta after being stung by a box jelly fish.

Although there's evidence of box jelly fish in Thai waters, it's not to an extend that should stop you visiting any location in Thailand.
Simple stinger suits can help and on my dive blog I've wrote a few articles regarding box jellies in Thailand, please have a look.
