usually i shower with my wetsuit on (3/2 mm) before diving, but the other day i forgot to do so and i hopped onto the boat dry inside, does that make you a bit more positively bouyant?

For a second or two, yes. It gets wet pretty quickly and it felt normal, didn't it?

You likely did not smell like petunias to your fellow divers, but that was their problem.

Just jump right in. The only thing that will cause extra pos. buoyancy is if air is trapped in the suit, which will quickly clear (much like when I pass gas:) if in a vertical heads up position. Luckily my mask is usually on and I cannot smell the fart!

it did, so i was letting water in once i was under, but for some reason i don't know how to explain, i had to do it over and over again, maybe since it was pretty hot that day (40ºc) my body heat was pushing water out of the wetsuit...maybe? :dontknow:

i was kinda bloated too that day and for a couple of mins. i was thinking that was the reason why i keep on floating up then i saw a puffed up puffer, started laughing coz i kinda saw a mirror image of me :rofl3:

Bloating and/or a dry wetsuit could affect your buoyancy, but pretty minimally. You might want to consider other candidates, such as whether you had made any equipment changes, whether you were breathing differently (perhaps because of some stress), whether there was any air trapped in your BC, or even if the salinity of where you were diving was different than before.

actually i did have a change of gear, it was my first time to use a bp/w from dss, but the culprit i think are the fins that i'm using, tusa tri-ex fins are positively bouyant. on my second dive i put on a 3lbs. lead weight and it compesated for the lack of ballast. so i think i'll be shifting to scubapro jet fins, so that i don't have to use any lead weights anymore. i just thought of asking this question to feed my curious mind :)

If you only need a couple of pounds, wearing it in the form of heavy fins might try to rotate you feet down. Remember, that weight is going to be at the end of a long lever arm(your legs). Were you more or less flat with the 3 lb weight on the last dive?

without the 3lbs. lead weight on my first dive at the end of it, i had to hold on to a coral for the shallow stop 'coz if i stop fining i automatically float all the way to the surface. it was an effort dive coz i keep on fining myself downwards just to keep up with my buddies
