A few of my buddies and I went diving for antiques in New Rochelle Harbor... The harbor was used as a dump from the 19th century until the 1950s, and all that is left from that era are the glass bottles. It was a beautiful January day, and we had a great time thanks to Captain Frank, Ned and the rest of the crew of the dive boat Sea Hawk!

Here is a little video from that day:

I keep my boat in New Rochelle Harbor and told capt Frank about that area years ago..there are other spots in the area too. I am out of Scuba NY in Yonkers.

We pull a lot of bottles out of the local rivers and inlet down here as well ranging from old 6 oz coke bottles to an old ceramic jug.

My son and I find a lot of bottles and other ceramic and glass containers while diving the northern New England lakes, is there a good book to help us figure out what is what? any suggestions would help. Thanks

Nice Video Mike, I dove in New Rochelle on same boat in Oct. with Westchester Scuba Club-but vis. was nearly nil.

Thanks! The vis was actually fair when we jumped in, but bottle hunting quickly turned it to nil.

Funny, most people who ask about these trips ask about the vis, since that's a big deal in most diving. Here, there really isn't much to see, it's all about playing in the mud!

Thank you much! I will order that book tonight and maybe post some pics of some finds.

Here are a few of our finds that we have pictures of:
A Mcmullens White label beer bottle
A Calders tooth powder jar
And a Moxie Nerve food soda bottle

and of course our share of old coke and Pepsi bottles!
