We dove with Matt Fahey on Flounder Pounder this past Saturday. Went to Tewksbury Rock and Hardings Ledge. TR was nice, 66 fsw for 31 minutes at 48 degrees. Cold after a while as we were both wet for the first time this year. What freedom being wet! Very liberating to be able to stand on your head to try to reach a bug and not worry about the air bubble heading to your feet. There was a real layer of crud on the surface, some sort of stringy algea stuff that was pretty thick and nasty. Made it pretty dark under 50 feet. We bagged enough bugs for supper then headed over to Hardings Ledge. The vis looked ok from the surface, we could see the anchor line down a long ways, but that was just a ruse. I found the bottom when I swam into it. To be charitable lets call it 5 feet. I was tempted to return to the surface and see about going somewhere else but I asked Al if she wanted to stay or go and she said stay, so we headed out. We were in 36 feet, 50 degrees for the second dive for 56 minutes and finally just bagged it cause we were bored with not being able to see. It was an excellent way to work on buddy skills, I felt like I had my head on a swivel.

Still better than a day at work. And the Lobster Fra Diablo was outstanding.

Was it whiteish colored and a few inches long?

I dove the wreck of the Romance with boston harbor diving on Sunday, and saw white stringy gunk near the surface. Does anybody know what this is?

I would charectorize it as more green but I'm partially color blind so my perception of color is skewed

The water looked green to me.

The gunk? was lighter maybe yellowish green

PTN, I saw you guys coming up on Flounder Pounder as we were arriving the area. I was diving with John Chaplain fromthe board in same vicinity Saturday. At first, I thought the boat was the Gauntlet from NorthAtlantic Charters, looked very similar. There were a lot of boats around with divers that day.

I wondered what that stuff was. Where is RI Oceanographer when you need him. We're very anxious to find out what it was.

You're right, a LOT of boats with dive flags flying that day. Were you the guys who had a diver in the water when we arrived at TR? It was so calm that we had no trouble seeing his bubbles and were confident that we were no-where near him.

I really like Matt's boat, a 28' Harris Cuttyhunk. It's just a great riding boat.

I'm curious about what it was, I'm very anxious to never dive in it again.
