hey people! im buying new boots this weekend. my old ones were 6.5mm and got a hole in it.. i guess a rock got stuck or something and scraped the top part off.. anyway, i was wondering.. since i only dive around here in the summer (june til sept) do i really need 6.5-7mm booties? i also dive in the tropics a lot, and they really make my feet float up (i hate ankle weights..and im too poor to buy 2 pairs of boots) so i was wondering if i bought 5mm, will my feet freeze in gloucester this summer? ive only been diving here 1 summer so far, so i dont quite remember how cold it gets..
thankzzzz

You can always add socks if they don't cut it on the edges of your season...

However, Like MSilvia, some of us aren't really qualified to give thermal recommendations :) [says he who was psyched this morning when he figured out he didn't leave his sandals @ killington]

I've been diving 5mm booties up here and had no problems whatsoever. My feet were nice and toasty. Used the same booties in 80F tropical waters as well, and they were fine. I say go with the 5mm.
