Reading the gear grumble gear brought back fin memories for me. I also have problems getting them off someimes and I will try some of the tricks. Springs have always been appealing as well.

My bigger problem is getting my dive boots off. I have ankle length zippered heavy sole neoprene boots and they just LOVE to stay on my feet. I try and roll them. kick them off by the heel, wiggle them - whatever. The suction is just too great. Combined with my less than perfect flexibility this can be a real problem.

Any tricks to getting them off?

Thanks

Can you add water to the top of the boot. If you can fill the boot the suction will be eliminated. If it is because your ankles are to big it just takes work, unless you want to grease the inside.

Than buddys will be able to keep track of you by the oil sheen. :D

Are you sure they're big enough? Or did you get a good buy on some a little too small?

I agree with Don's assessment. I had a similar problem; buying bigger boots solved it.

Thin neoprene socks. They make getting in and out of heavy wetsuits a breeze as well.

Oh yeah - good idea. I wear thin, synthetic, cheap socks, which I put on before my dive skin. Helps a lot starting there, and I guess with the booties, too.
