So I need to get a new pair of travel fins for snorkeling in the bahamas because I'll be doing carry-on with my luggage.

I've narrowed it down to the Aqualung Storm or Scubapro Go Travel fins, based on size & color offerings.

Both of these have the adjustable bungee for your foot, which will be nice since a couple of us will probably take turns sharing these instead of having to buy the fitted barefoot fins for everyone.

So we can either go barefoot, or all get the booties or socks to wear with either of these

I know the booties & socks can be helpful when walking on/into the beach - but how comfortable & durable are they for walking off the cruise ship to the snorkel area?

Both Aqualung & Scubapro have 3mm socks you can get, but neither look like they're going to be good for walking shoes/booties.

Aqualung 3mm Lowtop Socks

These Aqualung 3mm Lowtop Booties seem like they may be more comfortable and durable to walk on/off the ship in than the booties?

Also, if you go barefoot with these type of fins, doesn't the back of your heel get chewed up?

Barefoot sounds great, but if we get blisters on the back of our ankles and can't snorkel the other days, that's going to put a big damper on our plans while visiting the bahamas.

So should we just get the booties for sure and how good are they for walking shoes to and from the cruise ship?

Can anyone suggest good walking sandals to wear to and from the ship to the beach if the booties aren't going to cut it?

Thanks!

I think after thinking it through, I'm going to get everyone in our family the Aqualung socks, they're only $30 compared to the Scubapro socks @ $60. That ended up being an easy choice once I had them both in in front of me.

Since these are lightweight, they're easy to carry with us and quick to on/off them just for snorkeling

Then I think we're all going to get a pair of water sandals for all of the other walking and excursions like these:

Teva Sandals

Gives me the most versatility without being too expensive, yet exactly what we need when we need it

I went through the same and decided to go with the Go Sport and low booties. The booties are better on the rocks than the socks. The booties also fill the foot pocket better.

How about a generic pair of these for everything instead of those soleless aqualungs, for less than $30

Those are $63 it seems, but it would be a good option for booties though

I am leaning towards the open toe sandals so I have good walking shoes all over the cruise ship.

I do want to snorkel at every port, it's basically the only thing I plan to do while off the boat. but that's still only a 6 hour window max to be in the water, and even that, it might only be a couple hours of actual snorkeling.

I just don't know if I want to run around the ship with a bootie that covers my foot the whole time. I think the sandals might be nicer to spend more time in exploring everything, eating etc. The open air sandals are nice.

But I'll think about it.

I appreciate everyone's insight!

You may be able to use the sandals without any issues, just try them with the fins prior to your trip if possible to ensure that you don't end up with any bad blisters. While it may seem minor, its amazing how much discomfort a bad blister can cause over the course of a dive trip.

I agree, about cruising the ship in sandals not wearing them in fins, doesn't work like cutting off a foot to save

Those are $63

Mate where do you live, in the snow, can't believe everyone doesn't have a house scattered with these
