And then you take the bows and make another knot. This should be known to everyone. Finally, you stuff the bows and the ends down the side of your boot. This should be known to anyone who's worn army boots properly.
 
Ask anyone who has played hockey. You have long ends after taking up all the slack. Do one bow-tie, then use the two bows to bow-tie again.
I've always done this with my rock boots and have had no problems.

I watched RJP's link and I have to say that's how I was taught to tie laces as a toddler, have never tied them any other way. It's a doubly-slipped square knot.

I believe there are alternative shoelace knots out there--anyone know one that's useful?
