:help_2: Anybody have any thoughts, suggestions, or information on how to go about booking a dive trip to Bikini Atoll? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

I'm not a fan of deep dives or wrecks, but if I had the cash to splash, I'd want to dive at Bikini! It's on the "to do" list, but need to finish paying the car first, get the kids through school...

I just came back from Bikini. One suggestion is to plan on arriving in Majuro a few days before you go onto Bikini. This gives you a bit of security if your bags are lost plus you can use the time for a few check out dives in Majuro. Diving is not bad and bako divers do a nice job. Also allows you to do some adjustment dives on doubles if you are not use to diving them. that way you arrive in bikini ready to go so to speak. As to booking you can go through the travel agents listed or book direct with bikini divers. Same cost. The wrecks (particularly the Saratoga) are starting to show their age and some of the deck area is falling in. The main anchor chain on the saratoga broke recently. Now its a pile of chain on the sea bed. So better now than later. I wonder if the operation will still be going a few years down the line. Gas prices have really gotten to them.

If you really want to dive an Aircraft Carrier do the Oriskany now instead (less expensive than going out to the Marshall Islands). Saratoga is #2 on my list, and finally HMS Hermes (whenever they resolve that insurgency problem in Sri Lanka).

If you still want to go wreckdiving somewhere in Oceania/Micronesia, I recommend a liveaboard in Chuuk and/or Palau for nearly the same money (if not much more) --that you would spend in going to Bikini. . .
