Bonaire - where to stay?

looks like Bonaire is at a level 3 (reconsider travel) out of 4 (do not travel) on the CDC for high levels of COVID. I am pretty sure at least one in our group will be stopped by this. I hate COVID... Vaccines required, PRC testing before and after 5 days on the island.

Where have you read that vaccine is required to travel to Bonaire? Also another test after 5 days on island? I’m headed there in just under 2 weeks and haven’t heard anything about these restrictions previously. Have only heard that pcr <48 hours before landing and then obviously <72 hours before coming back to USA.

I took that to mean if they are staying there a week, then 5 days in would be for the test within 3 days/72 hours to return home.

Vaccines are not required, they just eliminate the requirement for a rapid test on arrival. The five-day antigen requirement applies only for stays longer than one week, as Brodydog notes. And the PCR is 48 hrs before first departure, not arrival.

Glad to see they now permit the antigen test on arrival; I think that last month, it was stated as antigen within 24 hours of departure. Getting it there takes a stress layer out.

I personally would opt for Buddys. Good house reef and boat dive op. Good breakfasts and OK restaurants on site. Several restaurants in walking distance including Eddies, Between Two Buns, Rum Runners. There are recent trip reports for both Captain Dons and Buddys below for reference. I think the Covid risk is low and stable and am planning a trip to Bonaire later this year.

Between Two Buns has moved south, below Harbour Village. Breeze n' Bites has breakfast for Sand Dollar and Den Laman, doesn't start until 7:00, a bit of a rush for 8:00 boats if you aren't already set, dinner is good. Eddy's was pretty good last two visits. See Bonaire - where to stay?

Vaccines required, PRC testing before and after 5 days on the island.

No, vaccinations are not required, but if you are not vaccinated you must take an antigen test upon arrival. PCR (or NAAT) test before arrival, yes, but the "Day 5" test is antigen, not PCR, and is only required if you are staying more than a week.
