Thanks for the trip report Bedford Wife. Since we're heading to Bonaire for our first time in May, I really appreciate the detailed report. Nice photos as well. One question. You mentioned seeing numerous Manta Rays. I assume these were southern sting rays, though you did get a great shot of a Spotted Eagle Ray digging in the sand. I ask, since I have yet to see a Manta - even after doing a Manta dive in Kona where they place a light on bottom & the odds are supposedly > 70% of seeing them (apparently we were in the 30% group). Of course I'd settle for a whale shark sighting in lieu of a manta. We missed them by ~ 2 weeks while in Utila in 2005. On the other end of the scale, my wife would settle for a red-lipped blenny. Counting the days . . .

You are correct, they were stingrays, not mantas. We did see about a half dozen or so over the 21 dives we did. The biggest ones were on the wild side, though, which isn't the easiest dive. We only got to go there because the winds were nonexistent for a couple days. We did see bleny's, so maybe your wife will get lucky ;) I sure wish we had seen that whale shark that's hanging around now!
