Bedford Wife -thank you for the great trip report! Felt like I was there with you not here - :admingreet:

Can't stand the mosquitoes either and they love my buddy and myself. For our coming trip I picked up some essential oil of citronella - going to try spraying a dilutant (is that a word?) of that around to ward off the pests!

We also had some really tiny ants in our villa that all we could do with was squash and wipe away. They were mostly in the kitchen area and we didn't want to spray stuff there. Guess it kind of goes with the climate.

I got a new Sony DSC-H20B point and shoot for Christmas. It has a 10x optical zoom and pretty good video capability for a pocket sized camera. The housing made by Ikelite cost more than the camera, but overall I was pretty pleased with the results. I had to get used to a large housing with a strobe arm (maybe someday I'll be able to afford a strobe for it). I used a spring coil clip with a lanyard for more flexibility, but seldom released it. I did enjoy having a viewing screen I could see easily underwater. Some of the photos were taken by my husband with my old Sony DSC-P8 in a Sony housing. As you can tell, I like the Sony for it's good lens. The old camera only has a tiny screen and my old eyes were having trouble reading it anymore. I think he mainly aimed it at stuff and got lucky sometimes ;) I used Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 to bring some red back into the photos, mostly with an action play I downloaded for free online. As I said, we are amateurs and just having some fun, but it's nice to have a way to remember our trip by going through the pics.

BW..Sounds like you really had an enjoyable trip! I've always said the worst thing about Bonaire is getting there and the 2nd worse thing was the trip home!

I have noticed that most folks start off with a week trip, this is then extended to 10 days; then 2 weeks and then 3 weeks for subsequent trips.
We're now on island 5 weeks a year and it still isn't enough!;)

Nice pics!

Did you use the internal camera strobe or manual white balance, or neither?

Could you let me know the piece of software you downloaded to get the reds back?

I am making my first trip to Bonaire, next Saturday. Staying at Buddy Dive, and am really getting stoked.

Thanks.

I agree with you Vince 100%, we did that the first time, and it has grown more, and more each time.:cool2:
