FYI: A new power plant has been built on the island and is located up close to the BOPEC terminals. The power lines from this station back to civilization (term used loosely) are underground. The power company decided to have the lines follow along the short cut road that leads over the top of the ridge line (past/under the radio transmission towers).

In that regard the road has been vastly improved to allow access to utility vehicles.

Inquiring minds wanted to know!!!

Nice!! Though I have to admit that last year we simply drove the wrong way back from 'Ol Blue to 1000 Steps since there weren't many folks there.....and we didn't encounter one car on the way back. ;) (bad us!)

Like actually paved? Or just not as rocky/rutted so you don't think you're going to blow a tire any second?

Not paved but fixed to the level that a car could use it without difficulty.

Course is will wash out over time!

Some of those road improvement efforts (not paving, just smoothing) would go along way in Washington Park. I think my brain is still loose from that jostling in October. :D

I have used it returning from Karpata and it is a lot fast if your going back to Jeff Davis or Andias! Not to bad! I like the Park road! Hot too bad and slows you down to enjoy the park!

Well I'll be down there next week & will try it out coming back from Karpata. I hope I don't get stuck because normally I take "the long way" back. ;)
On the subject of roads, anyone dive "The Lake" recently. If so, how's the drive entrance? I wish they put a bit of paving there.

We drove the shortcut road back in December and had no problems with it.
