New to the forum and brand new diver, hopefully.

I've done the classroom and pool work and my wife and I will be doing our OW referral dives in Bonaire.

I've been following the posts on Bonaire and now know to lock my rental car with the windows up while leaving everything valuable I own on the seat. :D

JK Good information, thanks to all who ranted on the crime in Bonaire!

Folks here in the forum seem to be lots of fun and my wife and I were wondering if anyone else is going to be down there during that time. Newbies? Folks that don't mind getting together to compare notes/offer tips to a newbie? Everyone here seems to be great and being new to diving, we're always open to meeting new divers.

Our timing is lousy, I know. I read socaldiver's trip report about the recent SSN outing. Sounded wonderful and the report was fantastic.

Anyway, if anyone's going to be down there, drop us a line. We'd love to say hello while we're blowing bubbles in paradise.

If you have not already, go over to the Bonaire board and check there. Lots of times I find others from that board who are on island when I am. Also, there is a regular meeting every Tues night on Bonaire at a little place called "Gibi's". Any BonaireTalker (member of the BT board) as well as anyone else is invited to attend. It's a great little restaruant that you might normally overlook and a great place to meet people, both from around the world and the locals. It's a night we don't miss. You migh even get to meet SOB from this board.

Thanks for the info, Herman. I've visited the board but must have missed the weekly meeting info. I'll definately check it out, as well as scour the Bonaire board a bit more closely.

other site yet, but thought I would go ahead and ask. What are the average water temps during the end of January?

My wife is worried about what wetsuit/skin to take for our trip.

Not really trying to hijack so back to your regularly scheduled programming.;)

SharkOfBonaire once bubbled...

Some 13 people there last Tuesday, including me and Mrs. SOB-2B :D . Oh, and PeCeDiver was there too.
Maybe until then, bubbleornothing!

And I can tell you , Mrs SOB-2B is a lot better looking than the Mr. :) Can't wait to get back to Gibi's, we are getting to know so many people on the island, it's like coming home.

As to the water temp, check out the web cams, the real time UW temp can be found there. http://www.BonaireWebCams.com/

Hope to see you there, SOB. We'll actually be on the island for two Tuesdays. I'm sure we'll be at one, if not both dinners...as long as no one minds a couple of newbies dropping by.

Congrats on the SOB 2B thing!

plsdiver...since this is my first trip to Bonaire, I can't speak from experience. However, my research said that waters around Bonaire range from 86F in October to 78F in February. Hope this helps. In addition to the fantastic info on this board and at www.bonairetalk.com, you can also get some good info at http://www.infobonaire.com/ Hope this helps.

While we are on Bonaire sites, here is another one that you might find interesting. It has 360 deg shots of Bonaire. You can rotate through them, stop them and even do some zoom.

Also check out SOB's site, lots of nice shots there as well. The link is below is name.

Herman,
Great web site. Beth and I love Bonaire and have developed many friendships there also. We can't wait until next September for our next foray to paradise. :tree: Bob
