I will be going to Bonaire on June 2nd to June 9th. We will be staying at the Sand Dollar with a group from my LDS. Are any of you SB'ers going to be on Bonaire? It would be good to meet some fellow SB'ers while we are there. Put some faces with some names.

My wife and I were also wondering how hard it is to get from Bonaire to Curacao? Can you get there by boat or do you have to travel by air? How much does this transportation cost. We thought we could see some sights there during our non-diving day. Thanks for your help.

38 Days and counting.

Hi Clay,

Sounds like a great time for another SBer's Bonaire get together! Rum Punch rules!

It is easy to get from Bonaire to Curacao. There is no boat, only way is by plane. Both Divi Air (a small 9 seater) and DAE fly often each day. The cost is about $100.00 per person round trip.

Actually, not much to see, much more congestion as far as cars, an oil refining plant. We went to Punda (the shopping area of Wilemstad the capital, just 2 weeks ago and had people begging for money. One guy even chased us to our car!

Actually, if you head toward the Westpunt area and north you will come into some beautiful area of Curacao, more subtropical, beautiful, but it is about 45 minutes to that area from the airport. I guess it all depends on what you want.

I'm spoiled, I live on Bonaire. Why not contact Bonaire Tours? They have a lot of packages set up to do for the day of the non-diving.

As I have stated SOOOOOOO many times before :light: , there is a lot to do on Bonaire than just dive....

We would love to get together, especially when you say rum punch party. Maybe we will stay on Bonaire instead of spending 200 buck to go see cars, beggers and a refinery.

It seems as though most SB'ers are going a couple of weeks before or after us.

I will check out Bonaire tours also. Thanks for the info.

If you go to Curacao and stay on a resort, you should be fine! We have gone to Curacao and stayed at Kura Hulanda...BEAUTIFUL, RELAXING...WONDERFUL Small Resort. We stayed at the Spa/Casino location. They don't have a dive shop on site, but if you want to go somewhere for plain ole' R&R...I highly recommend it.

Yes, we had some SBer's this past Monday night and we are scheduled to have more this coming Monday night. The ScubaBoard Board is up and waiting for momentos from all SBérs!

I will have to bring something to add to the board of SB'ers.

I might be pointing out the obvious, but you probably don't want to spend your off day flying if you were diving the day before. Especially after a week of diving. That pesky DCS and all.

Tom

I would stay in Bonaire and visit the Park and the donkey sanctuary - buy lots of carrots from the supermarket. Our first two visits to the Dutch Antilles we spent a week on Curacao followed by a week in Bonaire, the next 11 trips was to Bonaire only.

Hey Clay,

My little party will just miss you, Dang it!; we're on the island starting the 9th of June. We're also staying at Sand Dollar. Have a great time!

I would venture a fuess that a short flight from Bonaire to Curacao would be low altitude flying but you do bring up a good point. We were more interested in a boat trip. It is not a risk I would take anyway.

We are just going to stick around Bonaire and maybe us Bonaire Tours to do something.

I think I detect a trend in your visits. I really think there is plenty to do in on Bonaire anyway. Thanks for the tip.

We seem to be missing SB'ers by a week one way or the other.

I guess you will bring the plane we are leaving:shakehead on.

Allright, Who else is going to be there besides me during this week? I know some of my fellow SB'ers have to be going.
