Hello Everyone....

A buddy and I are planning to go to Bonaire this July...

My question to you all is are there any hotels that may be more of an advantage to stay at than others are.....

Maybe one has better rates...maybe one is closer to more dive sites...maybe it just a question of popularity...or maybe one is more ritzy and more upper class than the others....I am setting this trip on my own so thats why I ask.....

I am looking on the Bonaire websites to get all my information but wanted some real world expierences to pull opinions from...

Thanks again for any help!!

the Bonaire Plaza Resort is probalby the best (not cheap). they have a good
dive operation (Tucan Divers).

Tucan Divers are also at the Bonaire Ocean Front Apartments

my wife and i stayed there a few years ago, and they were cheap
and clean. only the bedroom has A/C, but that was enough for us.
right next to "downtown" Kraalendijke (sp?) and many restaurants
and shops. my wife (non-diver) loved it; i (diver) loved it.

the best thing to do in Bonaire is to rent a truck and load it up
with tanks (your shop will allow this), then go diving on the many
wonderful shore dives available. they are marked with a yellow
marker, and you can get a map for free.

Stayed at the Divi Flamingo in 2002. Nice, clean, close to town, good food, great shore diving from dock. I guess it depends on what you're looking for. Also visited some of the other places, Captain Don's, Buddy Dive, and we (gf) both agreed we choose the right place. Check out http://www.tripadvisor.com/ for reviews. Found them to be a good resource.

For what it's worth,

There are a bunch of good places on Bonaire. None of them are far from the dive sites and as far as I know there are none I would not stay at. Everyone has their favorites. If I am going with a group, esp if some have never been to Bonaire I like on the water places. If it's just a couple of us, I stay at off the water places. They are a good bit less expensive. Give me a better idea of what you need and/or want and I can give you a better answer.

Hello Squirt!

Thanks for the reply...

I was wondering if you spent any time in Casino there at the Divi??? Is it a decent casino to visit...or is it just a locker room sized casino with just slot machines....just curious...

I am booked with GoldenReefInn.com, they are not ocean front either but have good prices and are very easy to deal with, drop Liz or Cynthia a line.

Cannot speak for the actual accommodations since I will only be going there towards the end of this month - but service has been good so far.

The casino at the Divi was very nicely appointed. Slot machines and card tables. Lost about $50 there but had a good time.
