Hey,
I have a question about bolt snaps. I went out today and bought a coupple of crome platted bolt snaps. They were only like a buck each and I was wondering if they would be good enough for scuba. I didn't feel like spending the 8.00$ my LDS wanted for SS. Do you think they will rust?
Thanks
Tekkie

I tried that route and the darn springs were rusted and crumbled after the first few dives in salt water I have read here on the board that lowes sells stainless snaps for a decent price.

Thanks lal7176,
I figured for 3.00$ I might as well give them a try. I'll see how they do after a trip to the quarry next week.

There is a good source of bolt snaps on eBay - dhnix. Do a search on "stainless steel snaps" and you'll see a bunch of auctions going. A number of ScubaBoarders have bought from there before, and they only work out around $2-$3 each for quality SS snaps.

You can also buy them at Home Depot or Lowe's for $4-$5 each. Brass ones are a couple bucks cheaper, but don't work quite as well.

I think I'm also going to experiment with some SS trigger snaps I picked up at Home Depot, too.
