Hi,

I am wondering what the bolt and wingnut size is for a Diverite backplate and wings?

Is this a special bolt, other than being stainless? Is it something I can pick up at my local fastener store?

I am told I will not need them for singles, and that the cambands will suffice. I would sorta like to have them anyway.

Thanks

Ken

with a single tank set up you either use a STA (single tank adapter) or the cam bands, the bolts are usually built into the STA if you use one. You need bolts and wingnuts when you dive doubles to hold the tanks/bands to the bp/wing.

Ken,

I am assuming that you plan to use the backplate and wing without a Single Tank Adapter.

Keep in mind that any fastener that you use through the grommets in the wing and through the plate willl become the two "High Points" that the tank will rest against when you tighten the camstraps. This can lead to scratched tanks and tank rock.

My suggestion is to use a couple zip ties. Most plates have multiple holes to allow various positions for doubles, use these for the zip ties.

Zip ties are low profile, won't scratch, won't gall, won't rust, and are cheap.

All you need is someway to keep the wing from sliding around while you swap tanks.

Good luck,

Tobin

I used "sidewalk bolts" to avoid the "high points". These are readily available in Florida, at least (got mine at Ace Hardware) as they are used in the hurricane protection industry to attach hurricane panels and tracks to exterior structures and are stainless steel. I cut them to size with a dremel tool and added a washer, lockwasher, and hex nut. A wing nut would've worked too but I figured the hex nut offered a more permanent solution.
